Great idea that works great November 16, 2009 Lynnette Stevens (Cincinnati, OH USA) I listen to music or movies to go to sleep and need a solution that doesn't bother my spouse. These headphones were just the trick. Soft, non-irritating to the ear, and wonderfully easy to use. My spouse thinks I look a bit funky when I put them on for bed, but who cares? They work, so I'm happy. He's doesn't hear anything, so he's happy.

L & R stereo reversed on my SleepPhones September 14, 2009 Audrey M. Fetzer (Marengo. IL USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Want to update my review with the response I received when I contacted SleepPhones regarding the problem I talk about below regarding the left and right speakers being reversed. They were extremely responsive and asknowledged that they had had a quality control problem because of an employee who wasn't doing his job. They were happy to send me a new SleepPhone; the ones that have the removable speakers which are identified as L & R. The also sent me an extra headband and a self addressed stamped envelope in which to return the defective set.
While it is great that the speakers are removable and are marked L & R the problem still is that once the speakers are placed inside the headband one doesn't know which is L and which is R. I had to sew a thread on the headband over the area of the L speaker so I would know L from R. I emailed SleepPhones regarding this and suggested that they somehow identify L & R on the outside of the headband.
I was initially pleased with my SleepPhones as the fit was OK and I could certainly use them while sleeping. But, imagine my surprise and dismay when I used a CD lens cleaning device that also allowed for the checking and adjusting of Left & Right stereo aspect of the headphones attached to my CD player and found that the Left and Right stereo aspect of the SleepPhones were REVERSED!
Just to make sure I wasn't imagining this reversal I attached a different pair of head phones and checked them. Sure enough the second pair of head phones played Left when supposed to and Right when supposed to while my SleepPhones played Right when it was supposed to be Left and Left when it was supposed to be Right.
I now wear my SleepPhones opposite the directions given in their instructions, but I am very disappointed in the lack of quality control as I've have been using these SleepPhones for months listening to binaural beat CD's thinking that they were working properly! Very disappointed!
Just a comment after reading about it- don't own September 14, 2009 Wendy Moses (New Jersey) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems to me that you can make this! All you need is a cheap pair of soft ended headphones buds and a headband. Cut two tiny slits and tape them in place! ;)

Perfect for when you like to listen to music/ambient sounds but your sleep partner doesn't! August 24, 2009 Carol Linstid (NH) I was skeptical about how well these would work on two fronts but pleasantly surprised that they exceeded my expectations on both. I doubted that it would be possible to find a type of headphones that would be comfortable no matter which side I laid on, but these have been perfectly comfortable when sleeping on my side, back or front. Most of all, I was concerned that I might have to trade the great sound quality I'd read about in other reviews (which is very accurate!) for having them turned down low enough that my husband wouldn't be bothered by the music. I shouldn't have worried, one of the first things I tried was testing to see whether I could hear anything from them if I moved them off of being directly over my ears. It may be partly from the band, but for whatever reason, they contain the sound extremely well. Even in a completely silent room I could barely hear anything from them once they were a few centimeters away. (Note: I didn't blast the music while testing, but I tried as high as I comfortably listen to with any headphones.)
I hesitated on spending this much on headphones that I'd only listen to at night but it was worth it to finally get exactly what I'd been looking for all these years. I've been using these every night for a couple of weeks now and they're still extremely comfortable (although still very silly looking). The band shifts very easily and inevitably falls off by morning but they do the trick in helping me get to sleep and sleep well. (Measure carefully, and take their advice on estimating downward in size.) They work equally well with mp3s and sound applications on my iphone such as pandora or ambiance. I highly recommend these headphones!
