Higher states of consciousness

1).sleep is one state of consciousness
2).the state you are in walking up from sleep is a higher state of consciousness than sleep (walking state )
3).there is another higher state of consciousness that is reached by deep meditation
(this state is as fare from walking state as walking state is from sleep )

there are also a short cuts to the 3ed state of consciousness (a mental mussel if you will like lifting your arm)
then there is a state of consciousness that comes from transforming negative emotional energy in conscious energy  (no more emotional pain if you can remember to transform it )

if you spend enough time in the fourth state of consciousness you will become psychic  ( whether you want to or not )
but by the time you become psychic you have gained so much along the way that psychic powers become the wrapper on the candy bar
